Cleveland: Cheap and Easy
Having some fun throwing together a video on this. Whether you like the idea or not, it’s honest.
From a call I made into WCPN last September:
Based on ease of transportation an low cost of living, it was suggested the marketing slogan could be, “Northeast Ohio: We’re Cheap and Easy.” Hey, why not?
The laugh of the day was provided by caller Jay in Lyndhurst who first...

MSNBC: 'Computer nerds and freaks:' Germany's...
Der Spiegel’s article portrayed the Pirates as ”a party of computer nerds and freaks, a party of political neophytes, electrifying a large share of German citizens.”
I do not know everything the Pirate Party stands for, but their effort is rather refreshing.

McLemore Consulting Associates Inc.: Odd... →
mclemoreconsulting:
Odd combinations, unlikely groupings are always worth exploring. Yes, I said always. It is always worth looking beyond the typical groupings (ideas, people, products) to consider the “what ifs”. The dynamics of organizational and community life are so fluid that I believe we have to push beyond…

Educating the Next Steve Jobs. Seriously?
The WSJ is up to it again featuring articles on the institutionalization of innovation (and creativity).
In most high-school and college classes, failure is penalized. But without trial and error, there is no innovation.
I certainly applaud the effort being put forth by certain schools to try and teach kids innovation (learning via failure), but think these rudimentary mechanics can be...

Struggling to launch a new brand (Art vs....
This is quite a conundrum. The brand name I want to launch, when read literally, can mean certain parts of the male and female anatomy. When used in a machine shop or with engineers, they are common industry terms for pieces and parts. The artist in ‘Jay’ wants to just go for it. It is a full expression of a particular ideal for the world I want for others (be Independent). Then there...
The more social an Entrepreneur is the more creative they are. I was not too crazy about Jonah’s article in the WSJ, but really like his points in this video.

Who really is bankrupting America?
I am watching Rubio on Hannity and am simply bewildered by their claim that Obama and his policies are going to bring America’s 100 year greatness streak to an end.
The one thing that immediately comes to mind is Al Sharpton’s “blueberry pie” commercial that runs on MSNBC. If you do not know it, Google it. The premise of the commercial suggests that anyone with blueberry...

Be Creative vs. Doing Creative Things
How great it is that the business world is placing so much more importance on creativity and innovation, which have been creeping to the forefront of business priorities over the past decade (even more so since the passing of Steve Jobs).
At first I thought this was going to be a great article in the WSJ by Jonah Lehrer on “How to be Creative,” but never found the golden nugget....

Testing a New Brand Name: The Reaction
I am getting ready to launch a new brand and trade name and put it to the test with friends, business colleagues and my kids. On the surface one might come to the conclusion that it is something, umm inappropriate. It could be if you leave it up to other people’s imagination, but is everyday language in general industry. Here is how people react.
When they hear it, they instantly laugh.

Irony: Oil + Apple, Inc.
I love irony. Why? Still pondering this one, but I think because it exposes the truth of what is both positive and negative; it fits squally in-between and is always changing hands. Irony is never ending, nor is it an absolute. Okay, so I love irony. Here you go:
Apple, takes matters in their own hands when it comes to sustainability. This is straight from a recent Apple patent application:

Child's Play: Important?
This WSJ opinion-editorial by Lenore Skenazy titled “The Importance of Child’s Play” got me thinking. Is this really true? What is the appropriate percentage of play a kid should have?
“In striving to make our kids super safe and super smart we have turned them into bored blobs.”
It is hard for me to believe that kids, on average, spend only 2%-3% of their day on...

Republicans Love Artists?
Tonight Mitch Daniels insisted we need to create an environment for more “Steve Jobs.” I am impressed he and Republicans seem to agree art and the intersection of technology and humanities are important!

”Fly to Japan! Project”(10,000 FREE FLIGHTS TO...
The Japan Tourism Agency is offering round trip tickets to “10,000 foreigners with high potential to communicate Japan’s attractions.” I think they mean bloggers and the like.
I guess all you have to do is become a fan on Facebook and you have to be a foreigner with no intentions of becoming an illegal alien.
UPDATE: Well, after a little more research it looks like it has been...

Jocelyn Hsiao (AKA legalesque): Please Stop...
I really cannot stand people that post anonymously. It is a harmful manifestation of the web at many levels. If people cannot post honestly in their own skin, then they need to be more cautious.
Here is a twitter conversation I had with Jocelyn Hsiao about an unfortunate incident my wife had with Cleveland cabbies. I find it peculiar how crass and hypocritical she became because I did not...

The Innovator's DNA: Obvious?
The Innovators DNA is an obvious read. That said, it is a really good kick in the ass when taken personally (seriously). Be sure to do a full 360 (ask other people) to see where you are on the discovery vs. delivery quotient stuff.
I still have a hard time believing that “a recent IBM poll of fifteen hundred CEOs identified creativity as the number one (#1) leadership competency of the...

Apple goes political with patent application.
This is great. Apple, with more cash in the bank than the US Treasury, takes matters in their own hands when it comes to sustainability. It’s great to think they would venture to reinvent “the battery,” or find other new ways to better power electronic devices, as more powerful gadgets require more power, particularly their displays.
Straight from the patent application:

Crab and Smoked Salmon Stuffed Mushrooms
I am not a fan of mayonnaise in crab cakes and prefer them with crunchy textures. Here is a scratch recipe for Crab and Smoked Salmon Stuffed Mushrooms that are full flavored and fairly light. You can eat these as a meal or serve them up as appetizers. I prefer them with a drizzle of Alfredo sauce.
Ingredients:
18 baby portobello mushrooms.
1 egg.
5 tablespoons of olive oil (you can also...

iPhone 4 Mic Not Working: Stupid Fix
Recently my mic on my iPhone 4 stopped working properly. When I put it on speaker during a call, people could barely hear me. Strangely, when I made a voice memo, my recording was as clear as away? I thought for sure it was a hardware malfunction, but the fact that I could record a voice memo then made me think it was a software glitch.
I tried everything from restoring and backing up to...

I am not right, I am Jay Yoo.
I love this conversations with my daughter:
Daughter: “Daddy, you are right.”
Me: “No, I am Jay Yoo.”
Daughter: “What?”
Me: “I am Jay Yoo.”
Daughter: “Then you are wrong?”
Me: “No, I am Jay Yoo.”
Daughter: Scratching head, “I don’t understand.”
Me: “There is nothing to understand, I am Jay...
