Quick Fix: MacBook Fan and Battery Drainage Problems
Here is another quick tip that I simply could not find via Google? If your MacBook or MacBook Pro (Unibody) fan is turning on more that it should and running abnormally fast, or you are experiencing rapid battery drainage, then you may need to reset a chip on your MacBook.
According to Apple Support, this chip somehow controls and/or regulates the logic board that manages the fan and battery usage. Overtime, I guess this chip can cause your logic board to go a little crazy and needs to be reset.
It’s simple:
- Shutdown your MacBook.
- Unplug any peripheral devices (ie. printers, external drives, etc.).
- Hold down the control + option + commend buttons and press the power button.
- If your MAcBook DOES NOT turn on, then you should be good to go.
- Viola!
After doing this, my fan is back to normal and I am getting +3 hours of battery life vs. 1.5.
